/i//Lancealot.jpg

This is Sir Lancealot he is a 24 year old very stocky Thoroughbred. Lancealot enjoys food and eats at record pace. Many years ago Lancealot was a race horse but retired from the sport almost 20 years ago. Lancealot has been at Castleton Ranch for just over a year now where he is permanently retired.

Hello my name is Hughie and I am a 3 year old Thoroughbred. I have lots and lots of energy and I love to play jollyball and play with my friends. I am so lively that I am going to have to have lots of training before I can find a new home. I love to learn new things and at the moment I am trying to learn that people are not horses and cannot play running, rearing and bucking with me.

Hello my name is Thorin and I am a 8 year old Arabian. I have been at Castleton Ranch for 4 years now after being rescued from an auction. I am very timid and spook at everything. I have an old fracture in my knee that never healed properly so I am a permanent resident here. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and eating carrots.

Hello my name is Tina and I am a very sweet 24 year old Thoroughbred mare. I have been a broodmare since retiring from the race track over 20 years ago. I have been at Castleton Ranch since January 2009 and I am very happy here. I came from a breeding ranch that had closed down due to lack of money and there was not enough food to eat there for many months and I lost a lot of weight. Since coming to my new home at Castleton Ranch I have been fed lots of yummy food and I have put on 200 pounds. Due to my age, arthritis and ringbone I will be a  resident here for the rest of my life with my best friends Mattisse and William.

Joan was rescued from a feedlot in March 2009 whilst pregnant. In May she gave birth to Beau and both Mum and son were fine. Beau is now 5 months old and a lovely young man. Both Joan and Beau love attention and love to have their neck and withers stratched.

Joan and Beau are sponsored by Joan from N. California. Thank you Joan.

This is Alice and she is a 20 year old thoroughbred. She spent many years as a brood mare before her owner retired her and turned her out with the other retired mares.  Unfortunately, her knee sustained a fracture when she was kicked by another horse.  When the breeding farm closed down, nobody was willing to take poor Alice due to her age and condition. She has injuries in her hind fetlock joints as well as her knee. We were contacted by the stable hand when she was the last horse left with no loving home to go to, and the owner was going to put her down. She is now very happy here at CRHR and she loves being groomed and eating senior equine grain!

This is Butterfly.  She is a 14 year old thoroughbred mare.  She sustained a back injury when she was young so she has always been a pasture pal.  When her loving owner had a bad accident and was no longer able to care for her, a permanent loving home was a must. CRHR was contacted and Butterfly has a secure loving home here for the rest of her life.

Hello my name is Marty and I am a 4 year old Thoroughbred gelding. I was in race training but I damaged my tendon and had to retire from the sport. I am going to have six months to recover after which I will consider a trail riding and dressage career.

Hello my name is Jacqualine and I am 2 year old Thoroughbred filly. I was born at Castleton Ranch after my mother, Madeline, was rescued from the hands of killer buyers in early 2008. I am very sweet and very highly strung with lots of energy. I enjoy running, rearing and leaping.

Hello my name is Brooke and I am a 4 year old Thoroughbred mare. I have been at Castleton Ranch for a few months after I retired from my racing career with a bowed tendon. I will need another 6 months to recover before I can be ridden again. I am very sweet and get very excited a meal times as before my food arrives I love to run around squeeking.
